Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail

This is a special part of the Kauai History Heritage Site.

Mahaulepu Coastal Heritage Trail is a special part of the Kauai History Heritage Site. It’s the last stretch of coastline on the South Shore that has not been developed yet. The Mahaulepu Beach is also located in this trail.

There’s a lot of beautiful scenery to enjoy on this coastal hike. In the south east corner of Shipwreck Beach Keonela Bay, you can see sand-dune cliffs, Kiawe trees and limestone formations. There are also rocky inlets in this place which acts as a safe haven for sea turtles and the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal. With the help of Malama Mahaulepu, hopefully this place will stay undeveloped and its natural beauty preserved, so that future generations will still be able to enjoy it. Visit the Poipu Beach Foundation’s website for more information including hiking trail brochures and a virtual tour.
